SUMMARY:Unfiltered Coffee Chat (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Do you manage other team members within your current role? Are you concerned about your current state of mental health\, or that of your coworkers? You’re not alone.  \nNearly one in five Americans live with a mental health condition\, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. That presents challenges that must be acknowledged by employers and people-focused organizational leaders\, such as human resources practitioners. If you work in a DEI-focused role\, you likely face the challenge of addressing additional layers of stress and trauma. \nIn recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month\, DAIP’s May Unfiltered Coffee Chat will be a guided conversation featuring Sandra Victorino\, LMHC. Sandra is the co-founder of the Latino Mental Health Network of RI\, and currently leads workforce development and community engagement efforts at Care New England. She will center this conversation around how managers can make self-care and collective healing part of their workplace.  \nOur Unfiltered Coffee Chat series provides an opportunity for open connection and dialogue that is so crucial for our work. We invite you to come as you are to this guided conversation\, to share space and contribute your questions and ideas. \nSpots are limited to keep this conversation intimate. Click here to register today. \nThis program has been submitted for HRCI and SHRM CE credits.

SUMMARY:(Virtual) The Future of Affirmative Action: What’s at Stake?
DESCRIPTION:Join DAIP for a virtual conversation with legal experts ahead of the SCOTUS decisions in two cases that will determine the constitutionality of race-conscious university admissions policies\, which is often referred to as affirmative action. Since the 1960s and 70s\, affirmative action has led to increased equity in the admissions process\, more diverse student bodies\, and more enriching learning experiences for all students. Join us for a conversation about the anticipated impacts of blocking affirmative action–on admissions practices\, student experiences\, workforce pipeline\, workplaces\, and more.  \nThis conversation will feature:  \n\nModerator Ralph Tavares Jr. (Equity & Inclusive Excellence Manager\, Diversified Search Group) has spent two decades creating equity and access in higher education for students of color. \nPanelist Diana J. Hassel (Professor\, Roger Williams University School of Law) is a legal expert in constitutional law and civil rights litigation.\nPanelist Michael J. Yelnosky (Professor\, Roger Williams University School of Law) is a founding member of the RWU law faculty\, and a legal expert in employment and labor law\, employment discrimination law\, and judicial selection.\n\nThis program has been submitted for HRCI and SHRM CE credits.  \nREGISTER Here

SUMMARY:(Virtual) Unfiltered Coffee Chat
DESCRIPTION:Feeling stressed about the recent SCOTUS decisions related to affirmative action? Would you like the opportunity to share space with other folks considering the potential implications on your workplace? \nSome questions that are already coming up within our community include: \n\nHow can companies make sure their dedication to DEI efforts remain steadfast while progress is being undone?\nHow might this change impact ERGs\, pipeline programs for racial minorities\, diversity in procurement programs\, etc.?\nHow might grants and different streams of funding be impacted?\nWhat adjustments are folks already making in light of this new reality?\n\nDAIP regularly hosts virtual Unfiltered Coffee Chats for attendees to connect\, learn and delve into topics surrounding diversity\, equity\, and inclusion.
